The story of Vejpa the Puma

The 21st of May the Puma now named Vejpa is transported from the patio of the Beni department government headquarters and taken to the CCFS Paraba Barba Azul. After a frustrated attempt to transport him, he finally arrives to Senda Verde the night of the 29th of May.

He lived for more than 9 months inside a 0,90m wide by 2m long and 1m high cage. He arrived to La Paz for quarantine inside a cage 2m x 6m long and 2,50m high, and weighted 25 kilograms. He couldn’t jump to platforms 0,80 and 0,90 high. Once he was helped to climb the platform, he would fall down it because he couldn’t conceive anything but flat surfaces.

Since he is with us he has been receiving all the cares he needs. He has gained weight and muscle mass. Next week we will move him to a bigger enclosure and will get weighted again.

In the first images we can see Vejpa when he was transported and his arrival in June. In the last image and in the videos you can appreciate him how he is today.
